Spalted Oak slice with characterful markings and dents. Fallen Devon oak from local farmer which I had milled and finally after three years the planks are dry enough to use. This particular piece is an offcut from one of my chopping boards made into a wall hanging with a Red Admiral butterfly design using a combination of pyrography (wood burning) and acrylic paint.

Inspired by this butterfly bathing himself on the hot pathway in my garden, luckily for me he didn't mind me taking a photo. Absolute delight to create this piece with added white and orange acrylic to emphasise their trademark colouring. 
 
Wire hung, finished with 2 layers of satin lacquer for protection.
